Community Website & Weekly E-News
The Loggerheads Community Information Shop (LCIS) Website and Weekly E-News are now well established and very successful. In order to cope with increased demand and to improve effectiveness, however, LCIS is seeking to streamline our procedures for adding content to the website and the weekly e-News. LCIS is run entirely by volunteers who give their time happily in order to provide a useful service to the local community and its organisations. We would therefore appreciate regular contributors’ cooperation in following the guidelines below:
- Email address for submissions: info [at] loggerheads [dot] eu or editor [at] LCIS [dot] info
- Deadline for entries– Items to be submitted by Friday evening (subject to rules below) to guarantee inclusion in the following Wednesday’s e-News. Later submissions will only be processed if time allows. As most events are usually planned some time in advance, this earlier deadline we hope will not cause too much inconvenience to local organisations.
- Website - Posters, articles, information items will be posted to the website as above. Items submitted to the Website for local events and ‘What’s On’ remain live from the date of uploading until after the event date. These items are automatically picked up in the e-News.
- Repeat entries in e-News- Events will be included in e-News:
1. As soon as item is submitted /posted to the website
(up to 6 weeks before event) and
2. In the week immediately preceding the event.
The item will remain on the Website for the whole period up to the date of the event. This cuts out the need for reminder emails and resubmissions, which have often resulted in duplication and unnecessary work.
- Format for entries – The preferred method of submission whenever possible is electronically, by email to the above address. This is by far the quickest and easiest method for us. Due to restrictions of the website, the preferred format for posters and articles is as a JPG image. If this is causes any difficulties for contributors, however, the team will convert your item from a PDF or Word document (as is currently the case). We can still accept hard copies of posters, notes etc. which can be left in the Library.
- Submitted items should conform to LCIS ‘rules’, see below.
We feel that these changes will benefit both local organisations and the local public by ensuring a more effective, reliable service. Please let us know if you have any difficulties or concerns.
